The approach

Approach 180 is a family-based, educational, interdisciplinary approach based on prevention and motivational education. Guilt-free and based on an understanding of each individual's unique environment, it promotes the gradual modification of behaviors with the aim of adopting and maintaining a healthier lifestyle in the long term.

Based on the best international approaches and supported by the World Health Organization, this participatory global health approach focuses on the adoption of a healthy lifestyle for the prevention and management of obesity and non-communicable diseases.

Approach 180 is based on four elements that distinguish it:

Family

The word family includes the individual and their family within their socio-cultural and economic environment. We base our approach and care on an understanding of each individual's unique environment, including their family or significant others. Each family member benefits from this holistic approach.

Interdisciplinary

A team of several professionals (clinical nurse, nutritionist, doctor and others) work together, strengthening the complementary skills of each, with the objective of guiding and collaborating with the individual and their family in a more comprehensive and effective manner.

Motivation

Motivational interviews are the basis of our approach and aim to facilitate the engagement of the individual and their family in their journey towards a healthy lifestyle. The transfer of knowledge and the choice of objectives are done in a participative way, with vulgarized and personalized medical information, adapted to each person's level of motivation.

Intensive follow-ups

Implementing intensive follow-ups every 4 to 6 weeks is essential to the success of a journey towards a healthy lifestyle. Follow-ups make it possible to adjust objectives or set new ones according to the strengths and needs of individuals, as well as increasing motivation.
